10 questions · 02 groups

Group 01 · before you choose

Level, group size and format.

What decides which group is yours, and how to reach the room.

Tue · 19:10 · pair practice

Two learners’ hands over a cue card on the long table in the evening, an orange pencil between them
How do I know my level?

Book a thirty-minute consultation. The tutor who teaches the group listens, suggests where to start, and you decide. No test and no obligation.

How big are the groups?

Up to ten learners, and up to eight in the discussion groups. Maths Tutoring Online is one to one. Each program page says which.

Can I switch from in person to online later?

In a hybrid group, yes, week by week: the room and the meeting link run at the same time. In any other group, ask us and we move you to the next group in the format you need.

Is there a placement test?

No written test. For a language group above beginner level the consultation includes a short conversation, and the tutor suggests a group from that.

Can I reach the rooms step-free?

Yes. Northline Central has a step-free entrance on Linden Passage. The Riverside Room is step-free from the quay, and its lift is shared with the building, so call ahead if you need it.

Group 02 · once you have a place

Missed weeks, payment and what you leave with.

What happens between the first session and the last.

Wed · 18:00 · live online

A live online session seen from the side: headphones, an open notebook and the edge of a laptop on a desk
What if I miss a week?

Tell your tutor before the session. You get the notes and the week’s short activity, so you arrive ready for the next one.

How do I pay, and can I get a refund?

You pay when you register, on Northline Bookings. Its booking terms, shown before you pay, set out refunds and moving to a later group.

Do I get a certificate?

Programs marked Certificate end with a Northline certificate of attendance once you have attended three quarters of the sessions. It records what you studied; it is not a formal qualification.

What do I need for online sessions?

A laptop or tablet with a camera, headphones and a quiet corner. The meeting link arrives by email the day before the first session.

Are sessions recorded?

Live sessions are not recorded, so everybody can speak freely. Your tutor shares written notes after each one.
